So what is a full diesel electric hybrid vehicle? Well, new engine technology is able to combine the power of a 2.0 litre 163bhp HDi diesel engine to drive the front wheels with a 37 bhp electric motor driving the rear. This combination of diesel and electric delivers 200 bhp and a fuel consumption and CO2 emissions saving of approximately 30% when compared with a conventional petrol engine.

Due to the engine options under the bonnet, the vehicle also has four operating modes:
