How do I get a car valuation online?
Start by entering the registration number and mileage of your current vehicle into our used car valuation tool above and selecting value my car.
We’ll then show you key vehicle details such as the make, model and engine size so that you can check that everything matches up. You can enter your vehicle details manually if not. Once the correct information is displayed, select continue and fill out a few personal details so that we can send you your free car valuation right away.
We’ll email you an estimate based on the details you provided. This accuracy of your car valuation will in part depend on whether your car is in clean condition.
What does clean condition mean?
The part-exchange car valuation you see will be based on the following expectations:
- Little or no refurbishment is required for the dealer to sell
- It’s mechanically sound, without faults
- A valid MOT certificate is available or can be obtained easily
- All documentation is available, including service history
- The exterior colour and interior trim are acceptable
- Spare keys and security codes are supplied
How much difference does mileage make to car value?
Mileage contributes to car value depreciation alongside several other factors including reliability and service history. Low mileage generally means that a car will have less wear and tear and will better retain its value as long as it has been routinely cared for, while key parts such as tyres and brake pads will last longer before needing to be replaced. High mileage, on the other hand, could affect your car value.
The latest statistics from the Department for Transport show the average mileage in the UK to be around 7,600 miles per year.
