What's Happening in the Auto World in June?
Summer is in full swing now, especially after a few glorious bank holiday weekends. It’s also the time when the car show calendar becomes even busier, with classic and modern car events, races and shows going on all over the UK. From returning favourites to new and exciting one-off events, these are some of the best car shows going on throughout June.
When: 2nd and 3rd June
Where: Coventry, Warwickshire
The Coventry Motofest returns once again in early June, offering a wide range of free events. From motor sport demonstrations and races in the city centre, to exhibitions, classic car and bike displays, live music and more, it’s an action-packed weekend. Coventry Motofest takes over most of the city for the two days, with something for everyone. Many roads will be shut to accommodate much of the racing and displays, so make sure you plan ahead. Peugeot and Citroën will be in attendance in the Manufacturer Zone of the exhibitor section too.
Classic and Vintage Commercial Show
When: 9th and 10th June
Where: British Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire
Discover a range of commercial vehicles including over 300 classic lorries that are at least 20 years old, at the Classic and Vintage Commercial Show at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon. There’s even a chance to compete for the title of ‘Lorry Driver of the Year’ on a specially designed course on the Saturday. Plus, the autojumble will be hosting a variety of stalls with automobile spare parts, photos, brochures and other classic and vintage commercial vehicle memorabilia.
24 Hours of Le Mans
When: 16th and 17th June
Where: Le Mans, France
One of the most famous races in the world, the Le Mans 24 Hours brings together some of the biggest names in motorsport for this gruelling endurance race. Make a (very) long weekend of it by attending the qualifying sessions on the Wednesday and Thursday before. The race day begins with a warm-up and support race of historical racing cars in the morning of Saturday 17th June, before the full 24 Hours of Le Mans kicks off at 3pm.
Classic and Sports Car Show with Flywheel
When: 23rd and 24th June
Where: Bicester Heritage, Oxfordshire
In association with Flywheel, the Classic and Sports Car Show at Bicester Heritage is an action-packed weekend that will please all sorts of vehicle lovers. From a display of classic motorbikes going back to 1924 taking to the track, to military machinery including tanks, armoured cars and Jeeps alongside air displays in the skies above, there’s almost too much going on. Expect movie star cars, classic rally vehicles and legendary supercars on the track too, while classic car valuations and an auction will be going on as well.
Heveningham Hall Motorsport and Aviation Concours d’Elegance
When: 30th June and 1st July
Where: Heveningham Hall, Halesworth, Suffolk
A massive 5,000 acres of parkland are set to play host to 50 of the world’s most iconic cars at Heveningham Hall Motorsport and Aviation Concours d’Elegance. Both days see the cars displayed on the terraces, followed by a ‘Dog Fight’ flypast featuring a Spitfire and Hispano, vehicle judging in the afternoon and much more. It takes place at the same time as the County Fair, so everything from powerboat racing to bungee jumping can be enjoyed too.
There’s plenty going on in June to keep you busy if you’ve got a real passion for cars and other vehicles with these five events.
