Are your tyres safe?
A decrease in tyre tread depth leads to the deterioration of the tyre's performance during cornering and braking, which means the tyre is unable to transmit traction and braking forces to the road as effectively. Driving with worn or damaged tyres could cost you £2,500 and 3 penalty points.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) recommends that you change your tyres when the tread depth is 3mm, as below this level it takes longer to stop in wet conditions.
