The New DS 7 Crossback Revealed

26 April 2017

On February 28 at the Elephant Paname Art and Dance Centre in Paris, the DS 7 Crossback was revealed for the first time. Since then it has appeared at the Geneva Motor Show and is sure to be popping up in more places over the next few months. It is set to be the luxury French car manufacturer’s first SUV on the market, due to arrive on UK roads in 2018.

On first impressions, the New DS 7 Crossback is a classy vehicle with plenty of unique touches that help it stand above others in the growing ranks of compact, premium SUV crossovers. This and many more factors provide plenty of reasons to be excited about its upcoming arrival.

Lights, Camera, Action!

It’s no surprise that the New DS 7 Crossback is stunning to look at. A large, vertical grille featuring the DS Wings motif, chunky front with a smooth shape and a glorious finishing trim all adds presence. What may be more surprising is that it’s the lights that really steal the show.

Italian lighting specialists Magneti Marelli have developed the cutting-edge system, which includes full LED lights for added brightness, safety and longevity. Especially at the rear they bring the car to life with a 3D effect. Except for the entry level models, all will include jewel-like Active LED Vision headlamps which pulse purple when the vehicle is unlocked and swivel at start-up in a mesmerising effect.

Smooth Operation

Six engine and transmission combinations are due to be available, all providing a smooth and dynamic drive. There will be a six-speed manual petrol PureTech stop-start engine, two THP automatic eight-speed options, two BlueHDi diesel models (both a six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic) and an E-Tense hybrid which is due to arrive in spring 2019.

The THP 225hp stop-start petrol engine with an eight-speed automatic gearbox will be a world first on the New DS 7 Crossback. The same transmission will be available on BlueHDi models too, providing rapid changes and a comfortable, convenient driving experience.

Dedication to Detail

There are plenty of other little and large details that give off an air of luxury. From the two 12” HD touchscreens that connect navigation, multimedia and more, to a choice of five handcrafted interior designs that reflect different moods, no expense has been spared.

Then there’s the true extravagance of the BRM R180 timepiece, which smoothly releases from its case when the car starts. Plus, the DS and Focal sound system provides excellent acoustics whether listening to the radio, podcasts or your own personal music collection when behind the wheel.
