The majority of British parents (88%) see the school run as a valuable time to socialise with their children, although only 15% of parents actually find these journeys enjoyable.
Citroën reveals that 1 in 3 parents (38%) find the school run stressful, and 1 in 4 (23%) find it chaotic. However, nearly half (48%) of parents believe greater comfort in the car makes this journey easier for the whole family.
The school run is an undeniable constant in family life, with typical parents spending 76 hours over the school year – over 3 days – on the school run. These journeys equate to around 60% of their weekly mileage, and over half (58%) of parents maximise these journeys by tying them in with other chores like shopping.
Over 88% of UK parents recognise the school run as a time to help socialise with their children, however due to the stressful nature of these journeys, it’s probable that these opportunities aren’t being maximised. The research also revealed that almost half of parents recognise comfort in the car as a factor that would make the school run easier.
