What's Happening in the Auto World in July?

July is a huge month for car shows, races and events in the UK as some of the biggest dates in the automotive calendar arrive. From the main event of the British Grand Prix across the first full weekend in July, to plenty of local car shows and more later in the month, there’s plenty going on to please families, boy racers and general car enthusiasts. Whether you need something to fill an open summer weekend or for the start of the summer holidays, here are some of the greatest events happening in the auto world throughout July.

British Grand Prix

When: 5th to 8th July

Where: Silverstone Northamptonshire

Once again, the British Grand Prix takes place at the home of racing in the country at Silverstone. Will Lewis Hamilton be victorious on home soil? Or will one of his rivals Sebastian Vettel or Daniel Ricciardo nick it as the race for the Formula One title heats up? 2018 also marks the 70th anniversary of the Silverstone Circuit so celebrations are bound to be better than ever across the four days of qualifying and racing. Get your tickets quick though, as it will definitely be a busy weekend.

Goodwood Festival of Speed

When: 12th to 15th July

Where: Goodwood, West Sussex

This year is also the 25th anniversary of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, being referred to as its silver jubilee. From the iconic hill climb to the F1 Paddock where you can get up close to many of the latest cars, and a supercar paddock featuring some of the most advanced models in existence, there’s so much exciting car action to enjoy. Aviation and air displays, a rally stage, off-road arena and more mean you won’t have a moment’s boredom at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year.

Oakamoor Hill Climb

When: 14th July

Where: Oakamoor, Staffordshire

On a much smaller level is the Oakamoor Hill Climb, ideal for fans of classic cars. Up to 100 vintage and classic cars produced between 1900 and 1975 will be racing up the steep country roads. Spectator tickets are a bargain at £2.50 and there’s plenty of family activities taking place too, including a treasure hunt, duck races, food and craft stalls and more. It should be a great day out for young and old alike.

Gravity Show

When: 15th July

Where: Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire

Gravity Show is one of the biggest modified car events in Europe and set to be better than ever in 2018. There’s both indoor and outdoor space for showcasing more than 600 modified cars from across Europe, meaning even if we do get a wet British summer it shouldn’t dampen the mood too much. It’s not just cars at Gravity Show either, there’ll be bikes in attendance too, with live DJs, race simulators, traders and vendors from across Europe.

CarFest North

When: 27th to 29th July

Where: Bolesworth Castle Estate, Cheshire

The first of Chris Evans’ family-friendly car festivals takes place with CarFest North at Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire. Expect a fascinating range of F1 cars, supercars, grand tourers and more to be on display. Meanwhile celebrities such as Nadiya Hussain and Tom Kerridge will be cooking in the kitchen, the vintage village has market traders and cars from a bygone era and there’ll be live music from Status Quo, Bananarama, Billy Ocean and many, many more providing extra entertainment. There’s something for everyone at CarFest North this year.

FittedUK

When: 29th July

Where: Event City, Manchester

Rounding off July is FittedUK, an indoor car and bike show boasting everything from race cars to bikes and supercars literally up on platforms. There is an outside area with UK club stands, ideal if the sun is shining, but with 300,000 feet of indoor space, it could take most of the day to browse the vehicles on display inside anyway. FittedUK is a great event for those with a true passion for fast cars.

With all of these great car shows, races and events going on in July, you could easily fill up every weekend until the end of the month.
