Car shows, rallies, festivals and more make up some of the best car events in May. Across the country there are plenty of fantastic car events taking place, with more and more car festivals going on as the weather improves. Whether you’re looking for an auto show to attend over the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month, or an event in between for the whole family, these are some of the best car events in May.
Worcester Motor Festival
When: 20th May
Where: Worcester, Worcestershire
The 11th Worcester Motor Festival takes place across the city of Worcester, with street stalls, high street showcases, live music and more. A mix of the latest models, special race cars and over 100 rare historic vehicles will be on display. With local and regional dealerships exhibiting more than 30 new models from 13 manufacturers (including Citroën), it’s a great event if you’re thinking of buying a new car too. For the family, there’s a free Scalextric challenge in Reindeer Court, face painting, wooden go karting and a balloon powered car workshop.
Chiltern Hills Rally
When: 21st May
Where: Weedon Park, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Organised by The Game Club each year to help raise money for local charity causes, this will be the 23rd edition of the Chiltern Hills Rally. A classic car festival that will have more than a thousand vintage and classic motors on show, it’s a must for those who love all types of historic vehicles. Along with the cars there’s plenty more entertainment with an autojumble, around 50 trade stands, children’s rides, a dog show, food and drink. Entry is just £7 and free for under-14s.
La Vie en Bleu/La Vita Rossa
When: 27th and 28th May
Where: Prescott Hill, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
La Vie en Bleu returns to Prescott to celebrate French and Italian car manufacturing. The two-day event will have many special vehicles on show from historically important models to the latest supercars. For instance, at the la Vita Rossa event the land speed record contender 1911 Fiat S76 ‘Beast of Turin’ will be present with driver Duncan Pittaway. The main star is likely to be the Bugatti Chiron, making its first appearance at Prescott, capable of reaching 261mph. The Bugatti Chiron will be making regular demonstrations across the weekend.
Gaydon Festival of Transport
When: 28th May
Where: British Motor Museum, Warwickshire
For a true mix of vehicles, from those you don’t see every day to getting the chance to view common models up close, the Gaydon Festival of Transport has it all. From sports cars and classic motors, to emergency service vehicles, tanks and more, it’s an eclectic mix. There’s plenty of action too, with a gunnery display (including tank firing) or more child-friendly activities such as a bouncy castle and a penny arcade.
When: 3rd to 4th June
Where: Coventry, Warwickshire
Taking over most of the city in the first weekend in June, Coventry Motofest runs for two days, celebrating the city’s motoring history. Pop-up demo events and car displays will be going on, with the proposed races around the ring road bound to be a highlight. If you own a car, motorbike or scooter over 20 years old, then you can display it free of charge at the classic car festival as well.
You’ll be spoilt for choice with so many exciting car events in May going on.
